Hello All,

After a week off of work, and many hours of research and typing, the paper is done, and turned in!  It was a 4 section process, starting with a research component and ending with an exercise in networking.

The research part had been started months ago, but at an hour here, an hour there, it just wasn’t going anywhere.  The committed time was wonderful and gave me the opportunity to “just do it”.   All I am waiting on now is grades on the last three sections (I got a 4 out of 4 on the first section!!) and then I need to do the oral defense, which is basically a 1/2 hour discussion with several professors to defend what I wrote in my paper! THEN, I can officially put MBA behind my name….

I was amazed at the amount of information out there regarding values-based business leadership models.  More and more business owners are wanting to create a business that works well not just for them, but for their employees, suppliers and customers also.  We want to create businesses that are sustainable without us, as that is what truly makes a business.

Do you know these people who say they have a business, but they are working 100 hours a week, never take a vacation and don’t delegate tasks?  What do you really have then, but a glorified job with a really low salary?

We need to make something happen that would go on without us…that is bigger than us, and that works to IMPROVE the lives of us and others…..

So, I rant again, eh??  It is important though, if you start a business, to incorporate several things:

1. A great idea or product

2. A business plan

3. Professional outside help, including an accountant , an attorney and a business coach.

4. The will to succeed and the humility to take direction from others.

So, what are you waiting for??

p.s. on to the CPA exam now….always gotta have something going on!!

I had one of those weeks.  Everyone who emailed me had an excuse.  An exuse for not eating right, an exuse for not exercising, and excuse for not coming to yoga!  I am really kind of sick of excuses right now!

I was just reading a little article in Prevention about three women who were low on energy and how they solved it. One of the women stated “…but when I found time for me, I had more energy for everyone else.” What a profound statement!  I have been saying it for years, if you don’t make time for yourself, you won’t be able to take care of the others in your life.

One young mom this week told me she has been not taking care of herself since the birth of her second child, while another young mom, who has an equally hectic life to the first mom, told me that she makes time to come yoga every week because it makes her a better mom.

It is just an excuse to say “I don’t have time” or “my schedule is erratic”….there is always 1/2 hour sometime in your day…typically, if you put it in your schedule, you can make a yoga or fitness class at least once per week also…

Another way to make sure you “get it done” is to WRITE IT DOWN…put it in your planner, or write it on an index card and hang it on your refrigerator or your bathroom mirror.  Writing down your goal makes it concrete and you will be much more likely to reach your goal!!

So will this be the week you trash the excuses and say “I am going to do it?” I hope to see you at yoga, or walking around the lake, or at the YMCA…..

Namaste,
